Ovid-Elsie Cross Country News Release
The Ovid-Elsie Cross Country teams traveled to Corunna, MI on September 1, 2015 to compete in the Annual Corunna Early Bird. The teams were met with hot and humid conditions with temperatures in the 90âs during the races.
The girls team finished in fourth place out of nine schools with Clare Sheedlo, Addison Hymer, Katy Hurst and Emma Phillipson medaling for the Lady Marauders. Senior Clare Sheedlo led the way for the team finishing 18th overall with a time of 23:45. She was followed by veterans Addison Hymer and Katy Hurst, and newcomers Emma Phillipson and Ruby Saul to round out the scoring for the team. The varsity squad was rounded out by Junior Karissa Seagers and Senior Gabbi Cleveland who finished sixth and seventh respectively.
The boys team finished in fifth place out of seven schools with Gage Cleveland and Dakota Pfeiffer medaling for the Marauders. Senior Gage Cleveland led the Marauders with fourth place finish with a time of 17:45 to break up a perfect score for Corunna who scored 17 points. Veteran Dakota Pfeiffer and newcomers Noah Willaford, Weston Kvalevog and Isaiah Medina rounded out the scoring for the team. The varsity squad for the race included Freshmen Isaac Zimmerman and Senior Cameron Abrams.
The Marauders will host their next meet at Uncle Johns Cider Mill in St. Johns, MI on Wednesday September 9th. Races begin at 5pm and the public is welcome to cheer on the teams. This race is the season opener for the OE Middle School cross country team also.
