O-E Marauders watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-2 loss to Breckenridge on Thursday. Breckenridge scored on a single by Corbin Reed in the first inning, a double by Carter Staley in the first inning, and a single by Reed in the second inning to build an early 5-0 lead.
The O-E Marauders struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Breckenridge, giving up eight runs. The lone runs for the Marauders came on a two-out single by Aaron Hurst that knocked in Hunter Bukantis and Cayleb Carman in the fourth inning.
Hunter Smith took the win for Breckenridge. He surrendered two runs on four hits over six innings, striking out nine. Staley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Aaron Hurst took the loss for the Marauders. He allowed five hits and six runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.
Breckenridge hit three home runs on the day. Ashton Thrush went for the long ball in the fourth and sixth innings. Smith had a homer in the fifth inning. Jacob Chrenka, Jakob Loynes, Cayleb Carman, and Hurst each collected one hit to lead Ovid-Elsie at the plate.
The loss drops Ovid-Elsie to 12-11.
