The Lady Marauders capped their 6th straight victory Friday night on the road at New Lothrop to improve to 7-3 (5-1). The Marauders again used a fast start and jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter 16-5. The Marauders opened up the scoring by dominating the inside game and handling their pressure and press defense well. “Our girls did a great job of breaking down their press and getting easy buckets on the back end,” Coach Tokar said. The Marauders scored 13 of the 16 1st quarter points in the paint while holding the Hornets to just 5 points total in that quarter. The Hornets fought back into the mix by playing scrappy defense and hitting a few big shots, including a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer closing the gap to 22-19. In the 3rd quarter the Marauders picked up the pressure on defense and held the Hornets to just 4 points and extended their lead to 9. In the 4th quarter it was all about ball control, timely turnovers and rebounding as the Marauders were able to put the Hornets away with a strong 15 point 4th quarter. The Marauders were lead by Tristin Ziola with 18 points, Allison Reppenhagen with 13, Kaylee Hall and Braylon Byrnes each had 5, and Chloe Taylor scored 2. Next up, the Marauders host the Chesaning Indians on Tuesday, January 29, at 5:30 at Ovid-Elsie High School.
