Three Marauders hit double figures as OE cruised to a 65-41 non-conference win against Sexton. Erin Witt had a team high 15 points to go along with 7 assists while Lauren Barton added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Caitlyn Walter added 10 points while Kylee Sevenski and Kierah Darling each added 5. Madison Cunningham, Alexis Kusnier and Kennedy Haynes each chipped in with 4 points each. Micayla Coleman and Josie Nash each added a bucket while Kylie Visger rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

“I thought we played down a notch tonight. We still had some rust on us from the holiday break,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. “They have a couple good players but we just didn’t hit on all cylinders tonight.”

Ovid-Elsie got out to a 13-8 first quarter lead and went into the locker room up 29-16. A big third quarter surge (22-9) made it 51-25 before Sexton won the last quarter 16-14.

Cunningham praised Sevenski for her defensive effort tonight. “It won’t show up in the stat line, but Kylee did a great job on their best scorer tonight. Night in and night out she draws the opponent’s best player and she always answers the bell.”

Nash also added 5 assists while Witt, Walter and Barton each had 3 steals for the 3-2 Marauders. As a team, OE turned Sexton over 23 times and assisted on 18 of 24 baskets. The team also notched 16 steals.

Next action will be home on Friday night against Durand. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
