Coach’s Comments:
“Tonight was a bit of a roller coaster kind of game for us. After getting out to a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter playing some great defense, we gave up 24 points in the 2nd quarter, and were ice cold from the field and dealt with foul trouble to allow Byron to take the lead by 2 at the half. We decided to adjust defensively in the 2nd half and put Shayne Loynes on Byron’s all league player Kyle Hulett, which gave us a spark to begin the 2nd half. That was when the fireworks started. Jakob Loynes caught fire from distance, as he connected on 7 2nd half three pointers-to add to the one he had in the 1st half-to break the school record with 8 three pointers in a game. The previous record was held by Eric Ballard, Dan Schwark, and Wes Darling as each connected on 7 in a game early in the 90’s. It was a great moment as he was able to celebrate the accomplishment with his teammates-and especially his brother who assisted on many of his makes. Great games by Jakob, Shayne, and Justin Moore and Cayleb Carman helped us stretch the lead in the 2nd half to pull away.”
