Koutz Finishes 24th Overall at Greater Lansing
The Ovid-Elsie girls cross country team traveled to Grand Ledge to compete in the Greater Lansing Cross Country Championships at Ledge Meadows Golf Course which had a field of 39 schools on Saturday October 13th. The field had perfect weather but a soggy course that was at bit muddy due to the varsity boy’s race beforehand.
Emme Koutz ran a 20:04 to finish 24th overall to earn herself a medal for her efforts and being listed as one of the 30 fastest girls in the Greater Lansing area for 2018. Teammate Chloe Evans had a great day by posting her fastest time of the year with a 26:53 beating her previous best time by 15 seconds.
The team finished 28th overall which was a high point for the season as the runners were told the goal for the race was to beat their pre-race ranking which five of the seven girls did. The team scoring order was Emme Koutz, Tristin Ziola and Sam Grubaugh, Ashley Pumford, Chloe Evans, Leah Gruber and Elena Davidovic.
The next competition for the team is the Shiawassee County Championships on Saturday October 20th in Corunna, Michigan at the Corunna High School. Races begin at 9:30am.
