The Ovid-Elsie Cross Country team hosted the 18th Annual Marauder Invitational at Uncle Johns Cider Mill in St. Johns, MI in which 28 area schools completed in two divisions on September 6th.
With perfect running conditions the Lansing Catholic boys and Okemos girls won the large school division along with Ithaca boys and girls winning the small school division races. Ransom Allen of Ithaca posted the day’s fastest boys time of 16:05.8 and Lani Bloom of Ithaca had the fastest girl’s time of the day with an 18:54.6. In the middle school races Fowler won the boys and Pewamo-Westphalia won the girls two mile races.
The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders competed in the small division race and finished 9th out of 12 teams with an outstanding effort by everyone on the team. Junior Emme Koutz led the team with her third place finish overall with a 20:55. She was followed by Junior Karlee Willaford, Freshmen Sam Grubaugh, Sophomore Tristin Ziola, Senior Chloe Evans, Junior Ashley Pumford, Junior Leah Gruber and Senior Elena Davidovic. I couldn’t be happier with the effort by all my girls today, said Coach Ekel.
The Marauders next competition is the first of three league meets of the newly formed Mid-Michigan Activities Conference at Showboat Park in Chesaning, Michigan on Tuesday September 11th.
