The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders improved to 4-2 (2-1 MMAC) with a 46-25 win over Durand Friday night. Ovid-Elsie’s tight defense only allowed 7 second half points.
Lauren Barton ended the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds despite missing some action due to some early foul trouble. She shot a solid 7-7 from the line. Erin Witt added 10 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
“I thought we played tough defensively tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. “I thought Darling, Sevenski and Nash did a great job containing their leading scorer and I thought Cunningham, Haynes, Visger and Coleman did a nice job inside.”
The Marauders out-rebounded the Railroaders 37-28, a goal that hasn’t been achieved consistently.
“We have spent a lot of time working on rebounding. We have struggled this season despite our size. I thought we did a much better job tonight,” Cunningham added.
