The Marauders couldn’t find the big hit as they fall to host Laingsburg 5-4 to open district play.
After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Marauders would have several opportunities to tack on more runs but just couldn’t get the big hit to keep the Marauder offense going. The Marauders stranded ten runners throughout the game including leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth and the seventh game to end the game.
Devon Stringhum took the loss for the Marauders. He allowed five hits and five runs over five innings, striking out six. Sam Marshall was the winning pitcher for Laingsburg. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings in relief, striking out one and walking zero.
Cayleb Carman led Ovid-Elsie with three hits in three at bats while scoring three of the four Marauder runs. Tyler Knickerbocker, Chris Zruna, Jakob Loynes, and Cayden Flynn each had one hit in the game.
The loss ends the Marauders season with 13-15-1 overall record and a 7-7 MMAC Record.
With the win, Laingsburg advances to play P-W Saturday at 10am.
